Estradas da Planície Start-up of Works

On 31st July, the works awarded to the Rodovias do Baixo Alentejo consortium of Edifer, Dragados, Tecnovia and Conduril started up.
The works concern the Section A) Roncão Node (IC33)/ Grândola Sul Node (IP1), with a 30-month construction deadline and a total cost of 75,118,800 €.
The works, to be concluded in January 2012, include the construction of 124 kilometres of roads and the exploitation and conservation of 220 km of roads already in service, in a total 690 million Euro investment.
As to new road alignments, besides the 95 kilometres of the IP8 (A26) between Sines and Beja, the concession includes the construction of the Regional Road 261-5 (13 kilometres between Sines and Vila Nova de Santo André), as well as a 16-kilometer stretch between Évora (IP7) and São Manços (IP2).
According to Rui Pereira de Sousa, the Concessionaire’s Director, “It is the beginning of the fundamental axis connecting Sines and Beja by motorway, a crucial infrastructure to the development of the entire region of Alentejo. The start-up of works on the remaining sections will proceed during the next months, in accordance with the scheduling to be disclosed in due time. |
