Lisbon
’s New Justice Campus. A Work by Edifer.

2008.06.05

In the scope of the Judicial System Modernization Program, a transfer agreement was signed on the last 3rd. Under this agreement, 24 judicial units spread by several buildings in Lisbon will be transferred to a building undertaking – the “Office Park Expo”, a work by Edifer.

The ceremony was presided by the Justice Minister, Alberto Costa, who announced that the new Judicial Campus will start to operate on September next year, said he “aims at assembling, in the 65,000m2 Office Park Expo, several services under a more functional concept, with more quality and less costs, both for the service render and the client”.

The Edifer representatives at/present at this event there were Rui Furtado Marques, Carlos da Silva José, Fernando Pacheco, Manuel Cardoso Relvas, Miguel Pires Mateus e José Paulo.

The judicial units to be transferred to the new Judicial Campus are:
The Central Criminal Court; Post Sentence Court; Criminal Jurisdictions; Criminal Investigation Court; Criminal Judgeships; Investigation and Legal Proceedings Department; Criminal First Instance Judgeships; Trade Court; Tributary Court; Constituency Administrative Court; South Central Administrative Court; Directorate-General for Justice Administration; Directorate-General of Justice Policy; Register and Notary Public Institute; Justice Financial and Infrastructure Management Institute; Family and Juvenile Court; Sea Court; Enforcement Judgeship; Land Register; Vehicle Register; and a multipurpose space.

José Paulo said, “Up to the present, this was the first big-dimension non-partnership project undertaken by Edifer, being a clear evidence of its capacity to participate in great national works”.

Satisfied with the final product, José Paulo does not hesitate to consider this undertaking as one more landmark of the already vast portfolio of Edifer.

In a 36.200 m2 sized land and with 65.723 m2 overground and 133.680 m2 underground built-up area, this undertaking comprises: Five major dimensioned buildings (three 9-floored and two 8-floored), three 3-floor buildings, an 18-floor tower, an earth building and a 2-floor front wall.

José Paulo still refers that “the working pace was high intense for three years, in 4 work fronts, with altogether around 1300 workers a day”.
