Concrete Actions to Promote Sustainability

At Edifer we live according to principles of corporate social responsability, attempting to make a difference through the development of our employees.

Edifer participates in different institutional and voluntary work initiatives for the social development and improvement of life conditions of less protected social groups.

In the Edifer Group, Social Responsibility is promoted by development of people. Therefore, the human resource development strategy is based on the selection and adequate integration of the best people, on career management and professional progress, on training and on performance and skill assessment. This policy has lead to the consolidation of a strong corporate culture, more and more capable of facing the challenges posed by the sector new regulations, as well as by Clients’ and Stakeholders’ demands.

Concrete Actions:

In the scope of interaction with society, Edifer has actively participated with the GRACE Association in the set up of facilities to improve the life conditions of the target communities.

In the Casa da Criança de Tires (prison childcare house integrated in the Tires prison), a playroom was created for the children of imprisoned parents, with the involvement of Edifer volunteers.

In Bairro de S. Filomena in Amadora, three rooms were created for nursery, multimedia and multifunction purposes, in support of a local association working with children and youngsters of the neighbourhood.

Also, an important donation was given to Ajuda de Berço (with premises very close to Edifer’s head office), created for the full-time and direct support to children up to three years old who are at risk or abandoned, in consequence of judicial decisions.

Edifer got associated to the Lisbon Architecture Triennial, having sponsored the “Inner City” exhibition at the Electricity Museum in Lisbon. This exhibition was based on the New Yorker Arnie Zimmerman’s sculpture work, which success has lead to an extension period of 45 days.

Edifer has actively participated in the building of premises at the Instituto Superior de  Economia e Gestão (the oldest Economics High Institute in the country), by providing a lesson room in the building presently occupied by PhD, Master and post-graduate programs. With this investment, Edifer directly supports economics and management university education at the highest level in Portugal.
